Calling All Artists: Germantown Oktoberfest Opens Poster Design Contest

Hurry! Entries from Students and Artists Must be Received by September 21, 2006!

GERMANTOWN, Maryland -- August 15, 2006 -- The 24th Germantown Oktoberfest, a family-oriented festival held each fall to benefit local organizations, announced a new poster design contest. One winning poster will be selected among five finalists during this year’s festival on October 7 at Ridge Road Park in Germantown. The winning entry will become the official poster design and theme of the 25th Annual Oktoberfest in 2007.

Poster Design Contest Guidelines:
Who is Eligible? The contest is open to members from local arts community and student artists of all ages and abilities.

How Can I Submit My Poster? First, download and complete the entry form that is available at www.GermantownOktoberfest.org. Then, send your poster to:

Judging: A panel of representatives from the Oktoberfest Committee and the local arts community will select the five best designs that reflect the spirit and tradition of the festival. The five finalists will have their work displayed at the 2006 festival. Those attending the festival will vote for their favorite design, which will be announced during the festival.

Deadline: Entries must be received by September 21, 2006, no exceptions.

Prizes: The winning entry will become the official poster design and theme for the 2007 Oktoberfest. Cash awards will be given to each of the five finalists: $300 for first place and $50 for each runner-up.

About Germantown Oktoberfest
The 2006 Germantown Oktoberfest will take place Saturday, October 7 at Ridge Road Park on Rt. 355 in Germantown, Maryland. The family-oriented event, which features arts and crafts, music and games, will begin at 11:00 am and end at dark with fireworks.
